Work Samples

Novel Interfaces

Laburnum Networks

Lonny is currently consulting on the design of a health safety device for seniors that utilizes Laburnum's proprietary technologies. This work involves evaluation of industrial designs for usability issues and helping to perfect the user experience for the senior demographic.

Unfortunately, no work samples from this project are available at this time.

Morega Systems

Lonny helped design various portions of Morega's media convergence products. This involved creating an ecosystem to support the Morega experience across numerous terminals such as mobile devices, web, and OSD (On Screen Display) for the television. The final designs were delivered as a set of wireframes.

Unfortunately, no work samples from this project are available at this time.

Tellme

Lonny worked on an Interactive Voice Response product for Tellme. This involved designing the voice interactions for an automated telephone help system for a large provider of telephony and internet services. This work included design specifications and direct work sessions with the client.

Unfortunately, no work samples from this project are available at this time.

*This work was performed through Sliced Bread Design.

Haptics

Haptics was Lonny's primary research focus for his doctoral work, producing numberous projects and published papers. The resulting dissertation work involved incorporating haptic feedback devices into digital audio editing environments. Here is a screenshot of a prototype application used for performing user studies. Lonny also did significant work involving haptics at Immersion, where he designed, developed, faciliated, and analyzed numerous haptics-related user studies.

Here is a slide deck of a talk Lonny gave recently on haptics and design.

Ricoh

StoryTrack was a project that Lonny worked on while at Ricoh Silicon Valley (now Ricoh Innovations). The goal was to design a portable device that would facilitate sharing digital media with another person in a live setting. We incorporated physical button control to a standard tablet computer and developed the StoryTrack software for a novel UI. User studies were performed and a paper was published for CHI 2000.
